Who buys coins in Powder Springs?
We do.
We buy coins and old paper money from sellers in Powder Springs and across Cobb County. Send photos and we'll talk it over.
1. Selling coins from Powder Springs
Powder Springs is about 25 miles from us in Rockmart. Send photos here on our website or on Facebook. Your town is enough to start.
Sending photos doesn't commit you to sell, and you can turn down any offer. If it makes sense to go further, we'll arrange a time and place to see the items in person. Offers are made after inspection.
- We never ask you to ship items or pay anything up front.
- For estates and large collections, we can come to you.
We pay cash.
2. What we buy, and what to send
Coins, silver, gold and old paper money, from a single piece to a whole collection, including Morgan and Peace dollars, proof and mint sets, graded coins, silver certificates and National Bank Notes.
Send a clear photo of both sides of each coin or note, the label of anything in a grading holder, your town and a few words about what you have. Don't clean anything. Cleaning can't be undone.
3. Gold, then springs
The town was incorporated as Springville in 1838, about ten years after gold was found in Georgia, and its first settlers came looking for gold. They found little in the mines at Lost Mountain and off Brownsville Road. What they found instead were seven mineral springs.
Some 26 minerals in the springs turned the sand black, like gunpowder, and in 1859 Springville became Powder Springs. Cobb County itself was made from the Cherokee land Georgia gave out in the 1832 land and gold lotteries.
On June 20, 1864, a skirmish at Lattermore's Mills here was part of the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. Today the Silver Comet Trail, on the old Seaboard Air Line rail line through southern Cobb County, has a trailhead here.
4. Bank notes and Powder Springs
Powder Springs never had a national bank of its own in the years when national banks printed notes with their town's name, 1863 to 1935.
Nearby in Cobb County, The First National Bank of Marietta, charter 3830, issued notes from 1887 into the 1930s. We buy National Bank Notes from any town, along with silver certificates, red seal notes and other older U.S. currency.
Holding a Powder Springs family's old coins or bills? Send photos of both sides and we'll take a look.
